LEGO x Levi's | LEGO x Ikea products now available
Posted by Huw,Products resulting from LEGO's collaborations with Levi's and IKEA are now available.
The full range of range of clothing is available at Levi.com while the selection of storage boxes and 40357 BYGGLEK are listed at Ikea.com but are not available to order online. They do seem to be in stock at most UK branches, though.
I'm not entirely sure that I want to walk around looking like the guy on the right though...

I'll take that hat. Maybe that jeans... But a denim jacket isn't really my style.
The clothes look weird.
Bygglek still not showing up as available to purchase for me in the US.
I wish you could just buy the stud patch! I'd love one on a hoodie, but I'm not paying £75 for a hoodie.
LMAO
That model does not look happy.
There's an Italian designer that came up with a woman's bag with he words LOVE in LEGO plates like 10 years ago. She took it to a party and it was a huge success. Eversince, her and her brother run a successful business with many high quality fashion products having LEGO artefacts. Les Petits Jouers is their brand.
None of this is to my taste, but that hat is just ridiculous.

Yeah, I hope he does something fun with the money he earned from that shot, like buy a big Lego set.
I don't get why, on the T-shirt ( https://www.levi.com/GB/en_GB/kleding/heren/lego-group-x-levis-fit-tee/p/161430218 ), they used two 2x2's and a 2x4 plate (that looks too thin!) instead of the iconic 2x4...
I think that, at least for AFOLs, T-shirts are the most interesting product. And specifically in that field, I feel like there's a lot of potential left unlocked.
Inb4 “Why are the Lego set designers working on this and not new sets!”...

Almost nobody actually thinks that. People who don't like this aren't upset because these clothes are somehow taking away from new sets being produced (of course they don't), they are upset simply because their beloved brand is being associated with... this.
That's why Levi's and Ikea stuff is being sold at the same time: if you wear the Levi's clothes, you can put a BYGGLEK on your head, and top it off with a beanie!
;)
Why is the song Whip It running through my head right now?

LEGO set designers aren't working on it."
Apologies, sarcasm wasn’t clear in my initial comment. There were people naively moaning in the previous Levi press release article that the release of these collabs with other companies somehow affected Lego’s development of their own product.

No, with the hat being bright yellow he looks more like Sneezy
Lego, please stop these silly money-grabbing cooperations with other companies and focus on your core product. This will dilute your brand.
Entirely agree with @Dude45 above. Aren't these sort of out there collaborations exactly the sort of thing that led to the LEGO groups financial issues back in the early 00's that almost killed the company? They bought in a new CEO that stopped all that sort of thing, pared back the product lines and said that they should go "back to the brick", perhaps time to do that again?
Hahaha. This is clothing for kindergarten kids. I really, really cannot believe anyone older than 6 would wear that. I wonder what the male model in the picture thought after the photo shoot. That looks embarrassing on him.
After visiting the Levi's site I think that only T-Shirts with some sort Lego emblem are acceptable. For fanboys that think they have to show their love for Lego. I would expect to meet adults with this kind of shirts with Lego emblem at Lego exhibitions or similar. That would be Ok and fitting. But with these patches and extreme colors... OMG.
Bob the Builder
I really like the Lego Group X Levi's® Graphic Tee.
Double denim?
"A mode of dress in which a denim top (jacket, shirt, etc.) and a denim bottom are worn at the same time, often regarded as a fashion faux pas."

Exactly that. What an embarrassing thing to wear... Top it off with the Adidas sneakers and off you go (nowhere)
I'm still gob-smacked that this collaboration passed any sort if litmus test. Combined with the shift towards their 18+ range, the condescending (bordering on offensive) tone of recent press releases and the belief that their fans will happily support the inevitable price rises in their upcoming plastic to paper packaging move, its becoming apparent that the inmates are now running the asylum. I'm entirely convinced that the marketing department have, rather cleverly, convinced management that its actually THEM who are responsible for the company's success over the last 12-18 months.
I can't wait for the inevitable backlash by Greenpeace et al. It's widely accepted that the environmental damage caused by denim manufacture (of whom Levi Strauss & Co are one of the leading culprits) is bordering on criminal. Add to this the almost non existent reinvestment and corporate responsibility by such companies in environmental and social programs in the areas where they manufacture and were left with a partnership that makes TLG look ridiculous.
TLG ended a decades long partnership with Shell due to perceived environmental concerns and they're getting into bed with the likes of LS&C and Adidas? Mind boggling....
The hat makes the model look like an Abe Simpson cosplayer, no wonder he looks uncomfortable.
On the other hang, if you buy some CMFs, your pockets are full and you have full bags in both of your hands, at least you have somewhere to put them.

Mostly repeating my comments from the earlier article on this topic:
No, this is not similar at all. At that time they were refocusing their complete business away from the iconic brick. All those "non-core" activities were done in-house, and they had completely lost control of their supply chain/internal logistics. Jørgen Vig Knudstorp gets all the credit for the turnaround, but Bali Padda as COO was the one getting the supply chain back in shape.
Today's collaborations involve somebody in Marketing/an external agency working together with e.g. Levi's on the product those partners create. No TLG set designer, element designer or anybody in manufacturing is spending much time, if any at all, on these collaborations.
There's hardly, if any, risk for TLG in these collaborations. If the products don't sell, they just get less licensing fees.
In addition it's a bit difficult to reconcile AFOL's being unhappy with TLG releasing too many great D2C sets so they cannot keep up, and AFOL's complaining about TLG losing focus on the brick.
I hope he was well paid for this photo.
I question the clothes...
for some reason I can't seem to find the levi's products in the U.S. , anyone know why?
What I am most surprised off is that we have an adult model. I thought we'd see clothes for kids and it would have made sense.

I'm sure this is the EXACT argument used by the Marketing Department to justify TLG's involvement.
And, personally, I see it as incredibly short sighted and counter intuitive. As a lifelong fan of TLG's products and practices, I just can't reconcile these recent partnerships with the company's stated push towards environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.
I cant help but feel that despite loyal and intelligent fans and customers being able to accept that, at their core, TLG are one of the worlds largest manufacturers of petroleum based products, the company themselves seem to want to distance themselves from what is essentially (and likely will be for quite few decades to come) their core business.
Recent work towards environmental sustainability (plants to plastic, reduction and recyclability of packaging and the new plastic to paper policy) appear, on the surface, to point towards a caring and forward thinking company. Recent collaborations make the company appear to be uncaring and/or ignorant of the the very same principles they are so loudly touting elsewhere.
As the worlds most recognised brand, its unfathomable that they can be unaware of how bad it makes them look and negatively affects the good work they do elsewhere. Though I may be alone, there is no way anyone can convince me that whatever financial gain TLG is making from these partnerships justifies their existence versus the erosion of the apparent good work they ARE doing. All while adding weight to any argument that recent sustainability moves are simply attempts to 'greenwash' their credentials.
Its an old but accurate saying - You lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.
The model pics reminds me of how Back to the Future 2 predicted future fashion would look, and not in a good way.
I‘m too old for this fashion but luckily not for building with bricks!
To those of y'all who say these look ridiculous and childish--have you been to a mall or a major metropolitan area recently? These look totally in line with most 16-35 year old fashions.
I tend to wear more traditional/preppy clothing, but I'll be buying several items from this collection when it's available in the United States.
In the UK, the set of three small BYGGLEK boxes for £10 are only available from Ikea's Belfast store. Not exactly convenient if, like me, you're in SE England. That's 350 miles (565 km) away!
And yet......there are no products designed for women on this page. Apparently female LEGO fans don't exist in their world.
I do know that there's a women's denim jacket offered in this line with (of course) the name "the ex-boyfriend jacket". Interesting that it's not shown here.

Knowing full well the 'colonial' manner in which LS&C treat the environment and workers in the exotic locations they manufacture, how come I'm in no way surprised by this.
Makes quite a mockery of their 2016 donation to LGBTQ/ immigration causes.
Stay classy Levi Strauss & Co... Stay classy
That man looks miserable. Maybe a little stylish, but miserable nonetheless.
i am in my 70s will buy as this years Santa outfit?
All four BYGGLEK products are available in the USA, or at least in Seattle, WA (technically Renton, WA).
They have a modest level of inventory. I purchased the three storage products to review shortly at brickarchitect.com (Brickset already posted their review.)

40-year old me thinks that 20-year old does not look cool.
I'm not convinced by the Levi's products in general, but think they would look much better when paired with aesthetically different clothing choices.
I wonder how much they had to pay that model, there, in the photo.
I'm guessing, not enough.
The only thing I like is the bandana with the different minifig heads.
Like it £25 enough? Nope
Would I wear it? Nope

Indeed, while sporting the “Relaxed Hoodie”, he looks anything but relaxed!
The multi color hoodie is already sold out in the larger sizes! I am bummed out.
I was able to get a black hoodie, with a 25% discount on my order & free shipping. Which brings the price down to a reasonable cost for a hoodie. I am looking forward to the pieces that are included with it.
Never once in my entire life as a lego fan did I think “man I wish I had some LEGO on my shoes or hat”. Sorry this just looks stupid.... really stupid.

"Yikes! You wouldn’t catch me dead wearing that. The model doesn’t even look real happy to be there :D That said, why are the baseplates yellow?! Can’t they possibly do it in a different color to maybe, just maybe, help it blend in and better match the clothes."
A punishment worse than death
I’ve brought the hoodie, the multi coloured one and I love it. Slightly annoyed that the bag however hasn’t been launched and though it shows as coming soon on the American Levi website, we get left with just the bum bag in the UK. I really wanted the bag. Luckily hoodies are universal cause I’m an adult female fan and we got slim pickings.

Strange, the promo code excluded all LEGO items in my cart, maybe just not the black hoodie then?

Yeah, ROFL indeed. Those clothes are some of the ugliest stuff I have ever seen. Wouldn't dream of wearing any of them. Yuck.
At least the IKEA boxes are kind of useful.
I've got my order in!
I was able to order the storage boxes from IKEA online this morning. I was sure that product name was a code word and would change when it went into production. I can’t be asked to remember how to spell it.
I would be fascinated to see the numbers on how well these clothing items sell.
Why lol. What a load of rubbish!
My sweatshirt is on the way!
